Are you a Tournament Pro? - Take a fun test
TEST
Answer
What are the 3 top reasons players play in a charity golf event?
Question 2
1. Gift bag and prizes
2. Someone asked them
3. Reputation of Tournament and/or golf course
Tournament chairman are very passionate about their charity and believe players and sponsors will play in their tournament just to support the charity.
Most golfers would rather give you $50 then give up their time (work) to play in a poorly run tournament.
Sponsors are reluctant to participate in a tournament with small player participation (value) or lacking quality substance (image). The tournament is a reflection on sponsors.
What is the number one thing you need to have a tournament?
Question 3
PLAYERS
Ok this is an easy one.
But why do so many tournaments lose their focus and end up short on players? Don't assume you will have no problem getting players. Sign them up now, give them an early bird discount or gift to register early - (90 days out).
How much money should you make off a player's fee of $150?
How much of a $250 player fee?
Question 4
$0 ZERO $0
Wow - are you sure? How do we make money?
Sponsors make your money. We show you how this works with our zero out budget.
Let's look at simple math
100 players _ $50 = $5,000
Sounds good right? Short term, but next year these players aren't coming back -"it wasn't worth it" So every year your starting from scratch with players
Focus on player value - give them 100% of their fee back in food, golf, gifts and prizes. They will come back year after year. Let's focus on getting sponsors.
How much should your Tournament raise?
Question 5
You should raise from 2 to 4 times your highest donor level.
If you have multiple donors at your high level add those together. The longer your tournament has been running the closer you should be to 4 times the highest donor.
How large should your committee be?
Question 6
7 Chairs
TeeBox Caddy has developed these 7 chairmanship positions, through years of experience. Each committee chair is responsible for their part of the tournament. We provide the tournament chairman with each position, responsibilities and a sign-off form. Each chair member needs to accept and understand their responsibility to the tournament.
Which is most important to signing up players?
Brochures, web page, on-line registration
Question 7
on-line registration
Brochures raise the awareness and help sell the tournament, web pages can provide vital information and more details, and only on-line registration closes the deal. You want to be able to close the deal whenever the player and sponsor is ready 24/7.
TeeBox Caddy provides an on-line registration program that is revolutionizing the industry. Our registration creates extended exposure to your sponsors, entices players with customized gift bags and personalized gifts controls payment tracking, integrates into our admin management functions.
The admin functions streamline game management, drop and drag team pairings, gift bag labels, budget management, and starter sheets. So much more
It's 2 weeks prior to the event and we are doing
better than expected, What should we do with
the extra money we have raised?
Question 8
Invest it in player and sponsor retention.
Create a commitment now for next year - offer
Seems when people got money they want to spend money. Upgrading your awards, or adding a bigger hole-in-one prize does nothing to attract more players at this time, so you're wasting money.
As long as your tournament has the quality feel and presentation that you want. The best return is to have an incentive in place to sign the players up for next year's tournament. Sign-up now for next year's tournament and get a dozen golf balls. You could have 25% of your field for next year already committed before the day is done.
